Tanzplattform Deutschland

Every two years, TANZPLATTFORM DEUTSCHLAND offers a snapshot of current trends and innovative tendencies on the German dance scene. First held in 1994, the platform provides guests from Germany and abroad with an opportunity to watch a large number of current, contemporary dance productions within a short period of time. Furthermore, the dance platform is a forum where artists and event organisers, members of cultural institutions and a professional audience can meet and exchange ideas.

Originally organized as part of the network for the choreography competition "Les Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis" as a national showcase for the qualifying round, since 2002 TANZPLATTFORM DEUTSCHLAND has been an independent forum for the presentation of contemporary dance from Germany.

Each part of the biennial forum will be organised by one of the partners: Berlin (1994), Frankfurt am Main (1996), München (1998), Hamburg (2000), Leipzig (2002), Düsseldorf (2004), Stuttgart (2006), Hannover (2008), Nürnberg (2010), Dresden (2012) and Hamburg (2014).

TPD was founded by a group of German dance organizers > Hebbel am Ufer, BerlinTanzWerkstatt, Berlin, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, Frankfurt am Main, JOINT ADVENTURES, München, Kampnagel Internationale Kulturfabrik, Hamburg, euro-scene, Leipzig, tanzhaus nrw, Düsseldorf, Theaterhaus, Stuttgart, Tanz/Theater e.V., Hannover, KunstKulturQuartier, Nürnberg.
