About the NPN support of co-productions

The model for the support of co-productions was introduced in 2005. This support for trans-regional and international co-productions was made possible by the German Federal Cultural Foundation within Tanzplan Deutschland. The aim is to activate the trans-regional and international co-operation of organizers and artists in the creation of new productions. Applications for support to help defray production expenses may be submitted not only organizers, but also by individual artists and companies that co-produce with organizers in other federal states. The national origin of the artist and/or company is not decisive for the granting of support to co-productions. However, the applicant must live in Germany and the greater part of the production must be developed in Germany. A maximum of 50% of the production expenses can be defrayed by support given to the co-production's applicant.

There are three possibilities of setting up a co-production structure:At least two partner organizations from two different "old"* federal states and one foreign partner are involved as co-producers. At least two partner organizations from two different "new"* federal states and one foreign partner must be involved as co-producers. 3) At least one partner from an "old" and another partner from a "new" federal state
* Berlin, including the eastern part of Berlin, is deemed to be an "old" federal state.

Further prerequisites for submitting an application for support of a co-production:

The producer who hands in the application must be the executive producer. The production must be largely created in Germany. (The national origins of the artist and the company are not decisive.)
The artist himself/herself or a dance company can act as co-producer if they contribute funds to the production (e.g. funding from public support, sponsor, etc.).
The network of co-producers should be in balance on what concerns their financial contributions to the production.
To be a co-producer you must contribute funds to the production. The contribution of material support (e.g. technical support, rehearsal space) is not a sufficient contribution to the production.
The project may not start before the jury sat.

How do I hand in an application?

The executive producer must submit the application in their original (not photocopied) form to JOINT ADVENTURES. If all formal preconditions are satisfied, then the jury considers the request for support. The jury’s decision will be communicated to the applicants as soon as possible.

To download the form for an application please go to the section NPN Downloads on the German Site.

If you are granted a support, you are required to publish the credits and logo of the NPN.
