LIQUID LOFT / Chris Haring (A): “Running Sushi”
8:30 p.m., Muffathalle

“Running Sushi” is an evening with a surprising effect, because the audience interactively determines the sequence of twelve scenes by choosing pieces of sushi. The result is a different script each evening. What remains is the “Pulp Fiction effect”: the spectators themselves piece together the narrative afterwards. The precision with which the two dancers move is especially impressive. Inspired by Japanese manga comics, they work with chopsticks, use oranges to create funny images, and experience the oddest interpersonal conflicts in an entertaining duet about a personal relationship between pole vaulting and cyberspace in science-fiction comedy format.

Liquid Loft is internationally recognized as one of Austria’s most successful performance groups. Founded in 2005 by the choreographer Chris Haring together with the musician Andreas Berger, the dancer Stephanie Cumming and the dramaturge Thomas Jelinek, Liquid Loft creates performances and installations which put contemporary dance into direct connection with other contemporary art forms. Liquid Loft was awarded the Golden Lion for “Best Performance” at the Biennale in Venice in 2007.
