Spanish-born Daniel Mariblanca has been working as a dancer with Carte Blanche – The Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance since 2016. He develops his own projects with his company 71BODIES. The performance „71 BODIES 1 DANCE“ is inspired by personal experiences of 71 different transgender people from all over Europe. The work unites 71 stories in one body. An empty black stage and a naked body. No distractions or props, just the body and its physicality. The naked body as an emotionally charged space that carries vulnerability, strength, shame, desire, intimacy and empowerment at the same time. This body gives the audience the opportunity to question their own preconceptions and ideas about the naked body during the performance. The project makes the transgender community visible, arouses curiosity about it and creates awareness for it – on a human level through an artistic work. By showing different ways of being, the project opens up new references and ways of appreciating beauty and creating desire.
