Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou dedicate their work to exploring the human voice – from different perspectives, using a variety of formats and scenic devices. By understanding music as a multidimensional entity encompassing physical, visual, dramaturgical, expressive and poetic elements, they create powerful narratives that consciously transcend genre boundaries.
In “A BEGINNING #16161D”, five dancers and singers perform in almost complete darkness. The audience hears them breathing, walking and talking – but their bodies remain largely hidden. Sparse light sources make their voices visible and challenge perception in an unusual way. Where choreography meets musical composition, the resonating movement of sound (singing) separates from the visual movement, only to reconnect in a distinctive interplay. The result is a poetic narrative about the eternal dialectic of the individual and the community – and an imaginative search for new forms of coexisting. A unique immersive experience!
For “A BEGINNING #16161D”, Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou 2024 were selected for the Twenty24 AEROWAVES edition – a platform that gives international visibility to promising young artists in contemporary dance.
