Alex Baczyński-Jenkins is an artist and choreographer whose work explores themes of queer affect, embodiment and relationality. He uses choreography to reflect on feelings, perception and the emergence of collectivity.

In his workshop, the participants explore the structures and politics of desire and perception. They will look at how collective learning processes can create new forms, meanings and sensations within choreographic systems.

As part of the workshop, participants will develop their own “grammars” of collaboration and explore how individual agency and collective action relate to each other. The starting point is the emotional and affective qualities of social dances as well as abstract movement. This raises the question of how intimacy and estrangement can create strong, critical tensions.

The workshop is aimed at choreographers, performance makers and dancers of all bodies who are interested in developing material, deepening and sharing their practice and engaging in artistic research together.
