This five-day workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage with the creative and physical universe of Ultima Vez. Led by Wim Vandekeybus, the founder of the company (August 05 – 07), and Maria Kolegova, a seasoned performer with Ultima Vez for over a decade, the workshop invites dancers, actors, and circus artists in good physical condition to explore the movement language and performance principles that define the company’s works.

With their intuitive approach to creation, Wim and Maria will guide participants through a workshop that is tailored to their individual technical levels and imaginations. The first part of the workshop focuses on intensive technical training, exploring key elements of Ultima Vez’ physical language: floor work, spatial awareness, musicality, partnering, and the ability to create meaningful and readable movement.

The second part shifts towards performing skills: How can a simple idea, emotion, or memory evolve into a fully realized performance? How does the chosen form influence the audience’s perception? How can movement and drama coexist?

Rather than sharing what they found out, Wim and Maria will focus on what they are looking for in their creative process. Participants are encouraged to enter a process of experimenting, sharing their energy and intentions and exploring new perspectives. Through this collaborative approach, the workshop becomes a space for discovering meaning in action and create narratives through physicality.
