“In life, we often feel as if we are both autonomous beings making choices and cogs in a system, governed by greater worldly forces. REMACHINE stages this inner friction, a space of limbo.”
 Jefta van Dinther

“REMACHINE” explores the fragile interplay between humans and their inescapable, hyper-mechanized environment. Six performers balance on a gigantic, inexorably rotating disk – a dance between restriction and freedom, work and ritual that impressively reflects the contradictory state of our present self. Even more intense than in “Unearth”, which was presented by JOINT ADVENTURES at TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA 2023, bodies, light, voice and sound merge here to create a captivating stage experience. Via a powerful orchestration of both vocal and physical material, and in a new collaboration with composer Anna von Hausswolff, choreographer Jefta van Dinther draws us into a meditation on discipline, restlessness, insatiability and the power of the mind over the body.

Jefta van Dinther's rigorous physical approach is also always a staged research of movement, in which the body is related to light, sound and materials. Central to his work is the question of what it means to be human – in terms of society, the environment and other forms of life. As an internationally acclaimed choreographer, van Dinther creates immersive stage experiences that impressively question perception, presence and identity at the interface of sensuality and abstraction.
