The Physical Introduction is an invitation to familiarize yourself with a dance performance through your own body. It is not about learning steps or rehearsing part of the repertoire. Rather, the focus is on exploring the basic principles of the choreography, delving into the atmosphere of the evening and developing a more complex understanding of artistic expression through sensory experience – a warm-up of a different kind. The Physical Introduction is open to anyone who wants to approach a piece through movement. Comfortable clothing is recommended, but not a must. Afterwards, there will be enough time to take a breath and move on to the performance.
Judith Hummel is a performer and choreographer: her work moves between dance, performance and visual art, exploring themes such as intimacy, identity and origin. Since completing her master’s degree in Contemporary Dance Education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main, she has increasingly devoted herself to dance education, for example with the “Moving Anatomy at Primary Schools” format and as a teacher of body awareness at a special school. She is currently researching inclusive education formats together with the Czech choreographer, performer and physiotherapist Markéta Stránská.
