Alexander Vantournhout and Emmi Väisänen are working artistically between circus and dance. Their movement language is influenced by breaking through the boundaries of various art forms. Two constants within their artistic ventures are the search for creative and kinetic potential in physicality and an investigation into the many possibilities of the relationship between performer and object.

In this workshop participants are invited to focus on finding the complexity and imagination for new possibilities with another body. Very specific situations are proposed in order to derive principles rather than forms. The class alters practice and repertory of the company not standing: first-time-tested material for future creations, borrowed exercises from martial arts (Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Tai Ki Kong) as well as Yoga, Icarian games and partner acrobatics.

This workshop is for participants with a semi/professional background in sports, dance, circus or theatre. It aims to approach partnering from a different angle, therefore the body and the mind are challenged to discover situations that are unfamiliar.
