This workshop for advanced and professional dancers of the 50+ generation is not about learning particularly challenging or even acrobatic movement vocabulary, but rather about the sensitive and conscious use of physicality in dance. In tasks from Stephan's choreographic practice, the participants use their individual body language and forms of non-verbal communication to choreograph creative processes together.
In the first week, the focus is on guided improvisations that deal with questions of presence, spatial awareness and rhythm. Meanwhile, in the second week, set movement sequences are learned and individually implemented and shaped by the participants.
Stephan has created 16 full-length works since 2006. As a dancer, he worked with Cindy van Acker, Romeo Castellucci, Simone Forti, Amir Hosseinpour, Jessica Iwanson, Mia Lawrence, Xavier Le Roy, Felix Ruckert, Micha Purucker, Tino Sehgal and Mårten Spångberg, among others. He was awarded the Förderpreis Tanz der Landeshautstadt München in 2018 and has been teaching contemporary dance forms for over 25 years.
Participation is possible in only one of the two weeks or in both consecutive weeks.
