The Experimental Jam is an open format for interdisciplinary improvisation that brings together dance, music, text, and visual art in a spontaneous live composition. The goal is to facilitate encounters and creative collaboration between professional and non-professional artists and to explore new forms of collaborative creation.

The event begins with an introduction to improvisational scores and a guided warm-up. From this, a two-hour, continuous performance unfolds, in which movement, sound, language, and visual elements enter into dialogue with one another in real time. The resulting composition does not follow a predetermined outcome but emerges from the group’s dynamics and the impulses of the space.

The event is open to the public and invites the audience to directly experience the artistic creation process. In doing so, the boundaries between performers and spectators are deliberately questioned, and new forms of participation are explored. The focus is on trust in the creative process, openness to unexpected encounters, and productive engagement with the unknown.

The Experimental Jam was initiated in 2024 by Salomé Rodrigues in Munich and has since been hosted at various art and cultural venues, including Kunstbau Lenbachhaus, Fat Cat, and Kunstlabor. The project has been supported by Tanzquelle, HochX, and Turtle Magazine, among others.

Musicians and visual artists are asked to bring their own equipment or art supplies.
