Immerse yourself in a workshop that uses partner work and contact improvisation as a creative field of exploration. This is about more than just movement: it is about listening, responding, and the subtle interplay of bodies in space. Through touch, weight, proximity, and attention, you develop practical tools that will noticeably deepen your work in solo, duet, and ensemble settings.

Clear structures, scores and physical impulses open up new ways for you to generate movement from contact and relationship. You learn to gather information through shared dance and integrate it immediately into your own practice – alert, present, and responsive.

This workshop is a dynamic space for experience, shaped by artistic practice and inspired by the work of leading movement researchers such as Steve Paxton and Lisa Nelson. With curiosity, a playful spirit, and an open eye for what emerges in the moment, you will explore the diversity of physical communication.

Ideal for anyone who wants to sharpen their perception, deepen their collaboration with others, and expand their movement practice through direct, physical experience.

Charlie Morrissey is a performer, teacher, collaborator and director who has been working with movement for more than 35 years. His practice is influenced and inspired by working relationships with artists including Steve Paxton, Lisa Nelson, Scott Smith, K. J. Holmes, Kirstie Simson, Karen Nelson, Siobhan Davies, Katye Coe, Andrea Buckley, Becky Edmunds and many others.
