Our surroundings constantly provide a vast amount of information – we continuously perceive signals from the physical world, such as stimuli and impulses emanating from other people. We absorb this information, process it, and use it. At the same time, our own actions become information that is perceived by others. In this workshop, we will develop our presence and refine our awareness of it. We will explore how we can make contact through our physicality, recognize signals, and respond to them.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that fosters a sense of freedom in conflict situations. Based on traditional martial arts, including working with the sword and staff, Aikido places special emphasis on harmony and creativity. At the heart of the practice lies the interplay of receptivity and activity, as well as the balance between the effortless generation and absorption of forces.

Roee Be'er lives in Munich and is a teacher of Aikido (3rd Dan) and the Feldenkrais Method. He completed his Master's degree in Sports Science at the Technical University of Munich, where he researched balance control and motor learning. He trained Aikido with Miles Kessler, Patrick Cassidy and Thor Schoo; the Feldenkrais Method with Basil Glazer and Rachel Elazar. In his work, Roee Be'er highlights structure and freedom, playfulness and lightness in movement and seeks for ways to develop new sensorimotor skills through interactions with the environment. He worked with the Israeli dance company Vertigo and with dancers from the Batsheva Dance Company and was a guest teacher at the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company, Iwanson Contemporary Dance in Munich, and at Tanzfabrik Berlin.
